The first hour after a baby is born and having on skin on skin contact with their mother is called their “Golden Hour”. This period of time is critical for a newborn baby who spent the past nine months in a controlled environment. This time not only helps regulate the baby’s temperature, lowers the risk of low blood sugar, helps to control their respiration, it is also for bonding, and promotes breastfeeding.

There is something so special about capturing how the baby looks at their mom and dad, the sweet smiles in response to their voice. The little wisps of hair, their little feet and hands has the hold on to moms finger. When dad snuggles right up and rubs his nose on his newborn baby. These really are the sweetest moments. I have a special lifestyle section in my studio to facilitate just that.

While a newborn session is done *ideally* between 7 to 10 days after the baby’s birth, I want to capture those “Golden Hour” snuggles in our session. I offer not only standard posed portraits in your session, but relaxed, organic, natural photos of you and your beautiful family interacting with the baby. I want to capture the pure love and joy and welcoming this sweet baby. While I do give some prompts in this area, I let you all just be yourselves.

Having a newborn baby is life changing. Regardless if this is your first child, or your last to complete your family, it is so important to take the time and have a newborn session. The first year of your babies life is going to fly by, and before you know it that time will be a blur for you.

All sessions are customizable to you, your family, and baby. When you book your session with me (ideally it is good to book your newborn session around your 7th month of pregnancy), I will go over all of the ins and outs of the session prior.
